Australian awards · web, Android, iOS
Scrutineer works out what the award says your pay should have been, and shows the arithmetic line by line — the rule, the clause number, and every figure it used.
The free tools never read a document. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to, and what is uploaded is deleted within 72 hours.
Three outcomes, and nothing else. This one is the common one.
A rate of $34.76 matches the $34.76 casual minimum for Retail Employee Level 1 under the General Retail Industry Award 2020, in force from 1 July 2026.
What the clause requires, written out, without the legal furniture.
The text itself, so nothing rests on our paraphrase of it.
Each figure marked as published by the Commission, or calculated by us.
Working out whether pay is right takes the instrument that governs you, what the employer says happened, and what actually happened. Only you have all three — payroll software has never had the third.
This looks correct. We can’t tell yet, and here is what we’d need. Or: these figures do not reconcile. Nothing else, and never an instruction.
Every figure opens down to the clause it came from and the arithmetic that produced it. Figures the Commission published are marked apart from figures we calculated.
A document you can hand to your employer, your union, or the Fair Work Ombudsman — who are free, and who will take an enquiry anonymously.
Scrutineer is an instrument, not an advocate. It reconstructs a calculation and hands you the working. It does not characterise anybody’s conduct, and it is built so that it cannot.
It will not tell you that you have been wronged, or put a figure on a claim.
It will not name your employer, rank employers, or compare you to other workers.
It will not suggest confronting anyone, resigning, or escalating.
It is not a law firm, and it is not the Fair Work Ombudsman or any government body.
The icon says nothing about what the app is for. Notifications can be set to name nothing at all, and the app can be renamed on your home screen — Scrutineer or Records, same app either way.
Tax file and account numbers are stripped before anything is stored. Documents are deleted within 72 hours. Everything is held in Sydney.
The free tools answer what the instrument says. Checking an actual document is the paid part — and the boundary is deliberate, not a trick to get you upgrading.
Never reads a document.
Cancel any time; findings stay downloadable.
For anyone whose pay is not set by an award at all.
Priced annually. Monthly is available and costs more, because a monthly plan that people leave after two periods cannot fund the rule library the checking depends on. The free tier is not a trial and does not expire.
Between a fifth and a quarter of Australian workers are paid under an award. Two-thirds of them work in hospitality, health care and social assistance, retail, or administrative support.
Some already know something is wrong and need a document rather than a diagnosis. Others have never been told what the minimum is. This is built for both, without talking down to either.

Four questions, no account, nothing uploaded. If the number surprises you, the next step is your own records — not a conversation you have not prepared for.
